Holistic Yoga Ayurveda Retreat in Sri Lanka 7 or 14 days in 2019 are coming…
YOGA is not equal to YOGA …, or “All you need is LESS …”
Sanjeewa’s Yoga Retreat shortly described by his participants: “unique”, “not to be found anywhere else”, “touching”, “deeply changing”, “extraordinary”, “a revelation in regard of self-healing”, “balm for the soul”. “You just have to experience it yourself”.
Nowadays, Yoga is very variegated. The offer is incredibly large, there are various teaching styles, numerous, professionally trained teachers. So, it should be so easy to find the right practice? Our participants often deny this thesis. They feel overloaded and overwhelmed just because of this variety, and after a stay with us, they are looking for exactly that yoga experience they had with us.
What exactly is this yoga experience with us? Maybe something like “back to basics”. In other words, “back to the origin”, “to the essence”. Simple, clear, pure, without any “decoration”.
We let go of any outside distractions (sometimes also the “nice” distractions :-)), and in this quiet simplicity, you can easily capture the essence: YOU! IN YOUR FULL PRESENCE! Just as you are, and perhaps even in a way you have never seen yourself before.
The SILENCE, the LOVE – to yourself, and the skill of LISTENING to yourself, our daily attention in the retreat.
Find and strengthen the balance and connection between body, mind and soul in your Yoga Retreat
Experience it in a 7- or 14-day Yoga Retreat in accordance with Ayurveda & Meditation
How do we approach:
CONNECTING: Retreat participants can look forward to the wonderful and healing combination of Yoga & Ayurveda. Daily 3 hours of body- and energy work, rounded off by daily 1.5-hour Ayurveda massages and treatments.
A holistic approach that allows you very easily to get in touch with your self-healing powers, and to learn how to activate this power to its fullest.
Transfer of your retreat experiences into your daily life, our focus!
INDIVIDUAL & INTENSIVE: No matter what your constitution looks like, whether you are an absolute yoga beginner, re-beginner or experienced practitioner, everyone is right with us! The only requirement is that you actively want to do something for yourself!
Individually means that we work in small groups and your personal development is in our main focus.
Intensive means that we take the time of 3 hours a day for the practice.
In the two-hour morning sessions, the focus lays on conscious breathing techniques (Pranayama) and a very detailed correction (adjustment) and deep bodywork (asanas). Sanjeewa’s Masterwork!
The conscious building-up and holding of the positions will be corrected by Sanjeewa in a common interaction with you, and will be refined step by step. Your breath is your most faithful helper and guide. Body and mind get new impulses and will be “confronted” with a completely new idea. In a spontaneous and often very touching way you are “welcoming” your unused potential. Beginners experience their bodies in full alignment – maybe for the first time. Advanced practitioners experience a new awareness of the asanas with the help of the intensive fine correction and breathing practice.
In the 1-hour evening hour, the focus is on self-practice. We guide you in a gentle FLOW (flowing practice of the asanas) through the asanas, provide you with self-correction methods and let the day end with a meditation.
Through the intensive correction work in the morning and the gently guided self-learning-practice in the evening, the learning transfer is maximized.
EMPATHIC: Empathy means “compassion without suffering”. Yoga is a wonderful way of experiencing our limits, which are often self-imposed. When we enter into a position, we are immediately confronted with our physical and mental borders. How we encounter these borders is our free choice. We learn together how to approach our borders sympathetically, attentively and carefully. We learn to watch and let go of struggle, pain and resistance. Day by day. A very freeing experience.
PROFESSIONELL: Sanjeewa Jayabandu, is a master in his field. The term ‘yoga therapy’ describes his practice somehow more precisely. And still it is different.
As a former Buddhist monk, Sanjeewa has accumulated many years of experience in Vipassana, Metta and many other meditation forms. He worked for over 20 years independently as a certified Yoga / Tai Chi and meditation teachers on selected places and Ayurveda resorts in Sri Lanka. Since 2014, Sanjeewa has been working as Master Yoga Teacher exclusively for Ayurveda Shunyata Villa.
In the Yoga Retreat, Sanjeewa will be your Master teacher. Look forward to enriching yoga lessons, profound teaching talks, compassionate meditations and stimulating exchange.
Anja Krug-Jayabandu is the supporting co-teacher. The yoga units are gently accompanied by her and – if requested translated into German. Additional to Sanjeewa`s guidance, Anja is there for you as you wish, need and like it.
Anja worked i.a. 20 years as a trainer and coach in a global acting company and accompanied and actively supported many people in their own individual development. She is an educated Psychological Consultant and Mental Coach, dedicated Yoga Teacher, inspiring person with a lot of heart and humour.
Conclusion: In their joint work, Sanjeewa and Anja are a unity and a spiritual gift for each practitioner. A participant expressed it in his own words: “Sanjeewa and Anja are heart-balm for the soul. We often forget the essentials in our everyday life, and by being together with both of them you simply find it back…”.

“Whatever we may feel or know, what gifts and talents may sleep in ourselves, only action brings them to life. Whoever thinks of being able to understand what action, courage, or love means, discovers one day that he will only know when he acts; doing becomes understanding.”
In this sense… we are looking forward to you!!
